Fly to Antigua and spend the first 5-nights of your holiday at Blue Waters, located on the north-western corner of Antigua, where the Caribbean Sea laps against the shore. This fine award-winning hotel is wrapped around Soldier’s Bay, with three secluded beaches and plenty of room for relaxing, swimming or enjoying a range of water sports. There are several swimming pools dotted around the grounds and a wide variety of rooms and suites to choose from. Whilst in Antigua you may wish to explore the island in more detail and without doubt Nelson’s Dockyard is the most interesting area of the island and one could spend many days exploring it to the full. Waterside beauty houses a depth of history – buildings dating back to Georgian times are the backdrop to stunning harbours which are the heartbeat of Antigua’s world-famous yachting tradition. Stroll around the harbours and admire yachts of all sizes, eat, drink and shop in a host of lovely spots. You will have plenty of time to explore this beautiful island and its many beaches, 365 to be exact, before joining Star Clipper for your seven-day voyage. This cruise will will take in some beautiful islands and offers the perfect mix of relaxation and activities. Your first port of call will be in St Barts, in its elegant little capital of Gustavia, French joie de vivre is tempered by Swedish spic and span neatness. Diversions include duty-free shopping in exquisite boutiques, beautiful beaches, excellent dining and people-watching. Then onto St Kitts, the first successful colony in the British West Indies, where you can spend the morning exploring the colourful Basseterre the capital, before heading to the beautiful golden sands of South Friar’s Bay in the afternoon, with calm clear waters, ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Then onto Les Saintes, a thoroughly entrancing group of islands lying off Guadeloupe. You’ll enjoy the superb beaches, snorkelling, diving and other watersports on offer. Your next stop will be Martinique, where the beaches are renowned for their stunning white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters, offering picturesque spots for both relaxation and water sports. Then onto Dominica a dream-like island, full of surprises. Glide through a steamy orchid-festooned rainforest in a fascinating boat ride or hike to breath-taking Trafalgar Falls and a bubbling lake. Your final port of call before heading back to Antigua will be Guadeloupe, which looks like a butterfly from the air. Its giant wings are actually two islands, separated by the Rivière Salée, a natural salt water channel. Basse Terre, the southern or leeward part of Guadeloupe, is lush and rugged, dominated by La Soufrière. A stream of boiling water gushes from the top of the 4,800-ft. mountain, reminding you that this volcano is not dormant, but very much alive. You will then sail back to Antigua, enjoying your final few hours in the Nelson’s Dockyard area before taking the pre-arranged taxi transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
